Detect Peripheral Arterial Disease With A Simple Test

smart-abi.png

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) can lead to pain in the extremities, difficulty when walking, slower healing and even loss of limb. Advanced Foot Care Center uses Smart-ABI to test and clinically diagnose patients who may be at risk for Peripheral Arterial Disease. The American Heart Association recommends testing all patients at risk for PAD, and the American Diabetes Association recommends annual foot examinations that include PAD testing.

The Smart-ABI equipment performs a one-minute test that measures a patient’s Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) – the blood pressure in the ankle area, blood pressure, body mass index and more. When the test is complete, a report is generated that provides graphic scores indicating Normal, Borderline or Severe. The data provided by the test can help your doctor determine a course of treatment.

Ask Dr. Brodine and Dr. McCalla for more information during your appointment.
